The start of a new year often inspires change, and this January, SAMHSA launches its first annual Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Month to emphasize hope, recovery, and action. Each week will focus on critical themes:

  • Week 1: Starting Fresh
  • Week 2: Reducing Stigma
  • Week 3: Demystifying Treatment Options
  • Week 4: Supporting Treatment-Friendly Communities

This initiative highlights the importance of addressing substance use, exploring effective treatment options, and creating supportive communities. Tom Coderre, SAMHSA’s Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, shares his powerful recovery journey, underscoring that treatment works and recovery is possible. With nearly 75% of people who have faced SUD reporting recovery, this month is a call to action for public health professionals to support individuals on their path to health. Explore resources in the SUD Treatment Month Toolkit and share them widely.

Find help at FindSupport.gov, FindTreatment.gov, or by calling 800-662-HELP. If in crisis, reach out via 988. Together, we can make recovery a reality.
